· What is the name of your business?
Tay Marie LLC
· When was it founded? 2008
· In a few words, tell us about your products/services?
I sell women's clothing and accessories. I started off on ebay by just selling the new Deelishis Jeans and was making so much money that I decided that I wanted to sell and make available more items than just jeans alone. So, I created Tay Marie LLC, got a website created, and began to stock my store with many more items which was very similar to ebay of course, but I wanted to have my own stand alone company plus I wanted a way to avoid the ebay fees that was charged for ebay store owners.
· What do you like best about your business?
The first thing is just knowing that I have the opportunity for financial freedom. I also like the money I make with it. I also love having clothes and accessories handy for gifts to friends and family and even myself if I wanted something new really quick.
· What would you say is the most challenging aspect of your business?
Advertisement- Getting the business known and getting it to become a household name. You can have the best products in the world and the best deals but if no one knows about it then it's worthless and that is my main struggle with the business now. I still make more money on Ebay with my products more than my actual website.
· What were some of the factors you considered before going into business?
Losing money, by buying products that won't sell, being stuck with alot of inventory. On a good note, I thought about how much money I could make working for myself on my own schedule and how I could really expand the business in many ways. By the way, that's why I named it Tay Marie LLC so it's not limited.
· Did you enlist the help of a mentor?
I did call my uncle and asked lots of questions; he's a very wealthy CPA. His daughter owns 2 restaurants, a theater, used to own a clothing store and also helped get her mother in law a linen business, so he knew alot about getting a business started and he also had his own accounting firm before.
· What’s next for you?
I think for 2009 I am going to take it pretty slow. Continue to sell clothes and accessories, maybe eventually add more products. I want to work with young women and single moms. I think I will always have my store no matter how much money I'm making elsewhere, as long as it's not burdening me. I want to keep the business in the family and give to my children to do something great with it when they get of age.
· Is there anything else you want to share?
I want to tell everyone that has ever thought about going into any type of business to go for it. Do your research and just do it. Don't procrastinate. Take a faith step and do it. We only live once and we should live our life to the fullest. If it fails, then you know what not to do next time around.
