From Braidlocz to Traditional Locs

Greetings peeps.

I just wanted to give a brief update on my cousin's braidlocz. I installed his braidlocs at the beginning of the year --> SEE. And since then, he's been for a re-ti only TWICE. So imagine my frustration as I agonized about retightening his hair after going almost 4 months. So, I decided to convert from braidlocz to traditional locs, which took just 2 hours to redo as opposed to 4 possibly 5. Quite surprisingly, his hair held up well. He is definitely on his way to locing. Also, out of the gazillion on his head, only 3 of 'em unraveled. So here's a before & after look of his hair.

Updo - almost 14-month mark

Greetings Everybody.

Tuesday, I will be at the 14-month mark. And I got the "I need to do something different with my hair or Ima do something drastic like cut it all off" urge. So, as fate would have it, I went to nappy headed black girl's page &, whaddaya know, she had a vid of someone tutorializing, don't try to patent my word, a short updo.

Now, I will forewarn you by saying that my style is not exactly like the one in the vid. However, it gave me an idea & I free-styled the rest. So, check out the tute, ck out my pics, then let me know whatcha think? K?

Oh, I almost forgot to mention one key component to this whole thing....I did this without being able to see the back of my head. A few weeks ago my handheld mirror just poof and disappeared. Nooobody has seen it. Kinda strange to me, but I digress. Anyhoo, I think I did an ok job to not have been able to see what the heck I was doing back there. I am going to buy another mirror in the very near future, though. But until then....

The other night, I spritzed my hair with water & used a lil lock & twist gel to plait my hair. Yes, I said it --plait. I removed the braids the next day & this is the result. I apologize for the poor quality/lighting, but, hey, all I have is my cell phone to take pics with.

Ponytails...2

Ok, so, this is a test to see if the pics I post actually post. Prior, I sent pics of my ponytails from my phone. However, it appears that the link is broken. So anyhoo, here are a coupla pics of my ponytails. Now, I will forewarn you that they aren't "cute" ponys but, ponys none the less.

We've Been Doing This Thang For A Year Now...

...locing that is. I made it. I made it. And, boy, did I learn a lot about me & my hair during this year. I realized that:

• My hair around the edges and nape are much kinkier than the rest of my hair
• My hair bunches a whole, whole lot. I got several humps & bumps from bunching...Oh well!
• I get antsy & want my hair to look a certain way when I should just chill & let it do its thang
• This is my 3rd attempt at locking since removing my Sisterlocks in 2005 & the longest I've lasted without removing my locs...I was tempted a few months back & even removed a few but that doesn't count, right?
• Everybody's hair is different. A product that works for you may or may not work for me
• Patience is paramount!!
• My hair grows "out" more than it does "down," which gives me a lioness look.

To celebrate my tenacity, I decided to re-color my hair. Last year sometime I colored the front of my hair. A few days ago I colored my whole head w/a brownish-orangey color.
